Preschool Program (For children from 3 to 5 years)
The SB Classroom is specifically designed to teach children the pre-academic skills they will need to be successful in first grade. All activities build upon skills previous taught at home and in the Toddler program. Children attend school all day and participate in pre-reading, pre-math in addition to preschool activities such as art, gym, circle time, cooperative play, etc. While attending the preschool program, children also receive individual and small group speech-language sessions by licensed and certified staff, focusing on specific skill areas to enhance the classroom learning.
The location of the preschool within the Edith Bowen Laboratory School at USU provides opportunities for the children to interact with hearing children in a regular school environment. The preschool is held Monday through Fridays from 9 AM to 2 PM during the school year, with a modified preschool schedule during the summer. Instruction is individual or in small groups. Each day, children get listening, speech, and language lessons. Teaching also focuses on the child’s social, emotional, physical, and creative development. The goal is for each child to be in a mainstream classroom when he or she starts school. |
