Emily Anderson is a Speech-Language-Pathology graduate student in the Listening and Spoken Language Emphasis Program. She was born and raised in Montpelier, ID. Emily and her husband, Barrett Anderson, are both working towards completing their M.A. degrees at Utah State University before her husband will attend law school. Emily is committed to continuing her education so she can best serve her clients. She enjoys spending time with her husband, speaking the Finnish language, and scuba diving.

Regan grew-up in Price, Utah. She graduated with her degree in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education from USU, and is currently in the SLP Master’s program. She has loved her experiences so far here at Utah State and looks forward to new ones. She loves to read books and spend time outdoors and going on hikes. It has always been a goal of hers to work with children, so she looks forward to working with young children with communication disorders and being part of the Listening and Spoken Language program.

My name is Eduardo Cavazos! I am from a small town in southern Texas called Progreso. I graduated High School in 2010 and then attended The University of Texas at Austin. I received my Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2015. I enjoy playing my saxophone in my spare time! I am excited to move to Logan because it seems like a perfect little town! I am first generation college student and I am also the youngest in my family of 6.

Kaytie Cook is originally from Magrath, Alberta Canada and was raised along the I15 giving her expansive knowledge of mile markers and where to best stop for snack breaks. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2012 majoring in Communication Disorders. That sparked a passion for language in all of its various and connecting forms. After graduation Kaytie moved back to Alberta and took a full time position as a school librarian serving K-12 students. Being able to do early intervention for childhood reading programs and seeing the excitement of language clicking through literacy, she learned that language truly is power. Kaytie has just recently returned from a full time 18 month service mission in Wisconsin and is now excited to be a part of a new team that provides opportunities for others to speak and be heard.

Kami Ensign is a graduate student in the Listening and Spoken Language Deaf Education program. She worked for two years as a Speech-Language Technician after studying Communicative Disorders at Utah State University. Kami's love for early childhood development began while working with Granite Schools District's Preschool Program. She also enjoys playing all sports, coaching youth, sewing, and the outdoors.

Telesha, a Cache Valley native, recently graduated from Utah State's undergraduate program in Communication Disorders and Deaf Education. She is thrilled to be continuing her education in Speech-Language Pathology here at USU. She's even more excited to be involved in Sound Beginnings and the Listening and Spoken Language Emphasis. Telesha is grateful to be working with the amazing faculty and staff at USU who continuously push her in opening her mind, heart and awareness to others and is looking forward to learning and growing with the children at Sound Beginnings.

Laurel is from Spokane, Washington and is one of three children. Her family has always enjoyed being outside and they go hiking together on the holidays. She went to Western Washington University after graduating high school and graduated with a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2015. Laurel enjoys hiking in the beautiful canyons in Cache Valley. She is in the Deaf Education graduate program and loves teaching and learning from what students can teach her.

Christina received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was happy to trade mountain towns for Logan to attend USU as an Audiology student with a LSL emphasis.

Hannah is a graduate student in the Doctor of Audiology program at USU. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Utah. She enjoys working with children and is excited to help those with hearing loss reach their full potential. Hannah enjoys hiking, skiing, and all the outdoor activities Logan has to offer.

Kristin is an audiology student at Utah State University with an emphasis in listening and spoken language. She received her bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from Calvin College in Western Michigan. She enjoys being a part of Sound Beginnings and working with families who have children with hearing loss as well with as speech language pathologists and deaf educators in an interdisciplinary setting. In her free time she enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

My name is Megan Lambert and I am a second year graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology Master's program and the Listening and Spoken Language endorsement program. I am pursuing my Master of Science and have been working on my thesis regarding the pitch perception abilities of preschoolers with bilateral hearing devices. I hail from sunny Southern California and love spending my free time swimming, running, and lifting weights. When I’m not busy with my program or training for yet another sporting event, I experience new adventures and create memories across the state and country with my (newly engaged) fiancé.

Courtney Miller grew up in Sandy, Utah and got her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Speech Communication. Her interest in LSL began when she was in junior high and had a deaf classmate with whom she had a hard time communicating. She loves being able to work with children and helping open up their world so they can make connections with family, friends, neighbors, and all others they may come in contact with. Courtney just got married and is excited to start her second year of grad school with a loving supportive husband.

Olivia is originally from Washington, where she attended Western Washington University for her undergraduate degree (a double major in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Educational Theatre). Olivia spent the last year working as a teaching artist at Seattle Children’s Theatre, focusing on creative drama. Recently, Olivia was involved with a theatre company for children of all abilities. Olivia is currently studying Speech-Language Pathology with an emphasis in listening and spoken language in hopes of someday working as a speech language pathologist for kids who are deaf or hard of hearing. She is an advocate for early intervention. Olivia is thrilled for the opportunity to work with the families, students, and staff at Sound Beginnings!

Tanner Price is in his second year of the Doctor of Audiology program. He has big dreams of helping kids hear as a pediatric Audiologist. If he’s not eating at Tandoori Oven, you can usually find him in the clinic lending a hand wherever possible. He has a love for snowboarding, cycling, fishing, and refurbishing bicycles. He has a good heart, quick wit, and a way of being exceedingly honest.

Jensen is from Boulder, Colorado and enjoys all things outdoors. Some of her favorite activities include mountain biking, hiking, traveling, and her very favorite thing to do is salsa dance. She has loved being part of the LSL program for one year and is eagerly looking forward to seeing the LSL kids again this Fall semester.

Jazmin is a second year student in the speech-language pathology program with a LSL emphasis. She is originally from Michigan where she grew up in the Metro Detroit area, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. Growing up in her mother’s at-home daycare, she developed a passion of working with children and guiding the development of language and literacy. In her career she hopes to help individuals with hearing loss on a global scale. She likes to travel, practice yoga, and be in nature. She is grateful to work with the loving staff and children at Sound Beginnings.

Adele graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University and received her 2nd bachelor’s from Utah State in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. She worked as an interim speech pathologist in Preston, Idaho following graduation from USU. She has four wonderful daughters and has been active in promoting literacy in their schools since their preschool years. Adele’s hobbies include salsa dancing, hiking and reading. Adele has seen the impressive results of early intervention in the lives of children who experience hearing loss in her own family and is excited to be part of Sound Beginnings!

I enjoy playing sports, fishing and spending time with family. I have truly enjoyed working with the children and families at Sound Beginnings and look forward to expanding my knowledge and relationships through the LSL program.

Morgan received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Idaho State University. She is passionate about working with children and families, and the Deaf Education - Listening and Spoken Language program at Utah State is a natural fit for her personal and professional goals. She is excited to be a new resident of beautiful Cache Valley with her husband and 2 dogs and is looking forward to pursuing a career in early intervention.

My name is Shelby Vincent and I grew up in Los Angeles County in a small suburb town called Diamond Bar. When I was 21 I moved up north to Chico, CA to attend school at Chico State, where I received my bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I enjoy the great outdoors, a few of my favorite hobbies include hiking and kayaking (I miss the ocean). While I enjoy being outdoors on my weekends, on the weekdays I attend Crossfit to get my daily workout in and stress relief! I am excited to be living in Utah and to see what these next two years will bring me.

Claire Warburton completed her bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Communication Disorders in May 2015. She was introduced to Deaf Education shortly after coming to USU and became fully appreciative of working with children with a hearing loss. She loves playing a major role in the language development of children. She enjoys swimming, traveling, watching movies, playing volleyball, and spending time with her family and friends.

Amber was born and raised in central Wisconsin. Amber completed her undergraduate schooling at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). At UWSP, she received a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders with a minor in psychology and a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a Family Life Education emphasis. She has always had a passion for working with children who are deaf and hard of hearing. She is now excited to be a graduate student, gaining a Listening and Spoken Language Emphasis from the Deaf Education program. In her free time, Amber enjoys hiking, camping, and being with her dog, husband, family, and friends.
